We went prepared for rain but it was sunny in Doncaster for the 2014 Cars Expo. Motorhog provided a fantastic venue, allowing us to demonstrate all of our machinery in action. It makes such a change to see metal processing and car depollution machinery actually working, rather than looking pretty on a static stand. The new SAS Forks engine puller caused quite a stir – ripping out engines from cars in seconds, despite our rather unpracticed JCB driver. Once the engines were removed they were loaded directly into a JMC engine breaker which cracks and separates the engines into their component parts. Also on show was the new JMC catalytic converter guillotine which provides a safe method of recovering the valuable dust from catalytic converters. The MG car loom granulator looked impressive, producing clean copper granules from car looms – although we failed to process all of the 17 tonnes of car looms somewhat hopefully provided for us by Motorhog. The Vortex car depollution stand, tower and mobile fuel tool all sold, car lifts and fuel extraction systems all sold at the show. Tyres were processed on a McIntyre 600 tyre and radiator cutter, and also via a Vortex wheel popper which removes them from steel and alloy wheels. We also demonstrated the versatility of the JMC Metal-i-can multipurpose metal baler as it might light work of oil filters and radiators. All in all a great show, well worth a visit for both scrap metal and car recyclers.
